What are Application Servers
Application server is basically a server which is designed for running out specific application based programs. An application sever is used at all levels of web hosting starting from the very basic level to the highest level of a website formation. The formation of an application server is totally dependant on the amount of its usage in an application. If an application involves the enormous functions to perform then the huge amounts of Read only memory (ROM) as well as Random access memory (RAM) has to be appointed in the application server. The first application server that come into existence was operating based ones. It is one of the earliest forms of application server and is not much functional these days.
An additional function of the application server is that it is also used in the functioning of the other application based programs. The use of the application server is essential when a company has numerous programs and spreadsheets which are to be accessed by all the members working in the organization. The computers which are connected through the application servers are called as terminals. One of the most common example of the terminate server is the NT server which is owned by the Microsoft company.
